As the man in charge of innovation and design strategy for the 40 brands grouped together under the Accor banner, Damien Perrot has left the standardised hospitality associated with hotel chains far, far behind.
For Accor, interior decoration is now the key to a potent immersive customer experience. Since 2016, the group has been bestowing the Accor Design Award on talented individuals from design colleges around the world – an important initiative for encouraging those who aim to offer an adventurous spectrum of experiences to customers of such popular, widespread brands as Ibis, Novotel, Sofitel or Pullman. These ubiquitous global brands differentiate themselves from one location to the next through unique, original attributes derived in no small measure from the work of local creators.
“When hotels become lifestyle leaders, they also become destinations in their own right.” Damien Perrot maintains this clarity of vision with regular trips to such international gatherings as Maison&Objet Paris. Here, he tells us what choice discoveries and heart-warming moments have stuck with him from his most recent visit. Does the welcome that Maison&Objet accords its distinguished visitors also inspire them?
