Free-spirited, eclectic, fantastical, festive, offbeat…in France, we’re running out of adjectives to describe the 1980s that so many are fantasizing about today. How do you convey the atmosphere of this decade in its full creative energy? The Musée des Arts Décoratifs has risen to the challenge by bringing together 700 works for its current exhibition, which encompasses all the arts, from design to graphics to fashion.

Designer
French designer Olivier Gagnère has an original place in contemporary creation. Through a movement that shifts the lines, he breaks with the conventions of geometry and creates a new balance, inverted or shifted, which gives vases and ceramics, glassware, furniture and tableware a unique personality. Without offending, Olivier Gagnère writes a new text using historical vocabulary. With a shift, a slight "twist", he installs forms that catch the eye, arouse an emotion, and question the memory. Through these new antiques, an intrigue is woven. In a complicit relationship with the know-how of the most skilful craftsmen, in Murano, Arita or Limoges, he remains faithful to his own typology, whether it be for unique pieces, limited series, or for production intended for the general public. The furniture and interior design, conceived in the same spirit of refinement and freedom, affirm with elegance and a certain restraint, Olivier Gagnère's filiation in the spirit of the French school. Perfectly modern and already classic.
