Can we really say that a material is “sustainable”? In this era when we keep advocating for a return to natural, botanical, or recycled materials, it would seem necessary to take a closer look at another aspect: their use. We offer you an encounter with specialists who believe that, for example, the way we use materials is essential to the very heart of the environmental issue.

Architect-Engineer & Founder - GWILEN
Yann Santerre is a French architect and engineer and founder of the GWILEN company, which transforms marine sediment into low-carbon construction materials. It’s an innovative material with properties akin to terracotta, using an already available resource. Before this, Yann built several projects, buildings, and prototypes that sought to question the relationship between materials and structures/architecture. Often through a technical lens, he questioned re-use with the Bic Pavilion and material performance with the Bigouden Walkway, always convinced of the fundamental importance of materials within an architectural expression.
