Emmanuel Gérard

Director - Cité internationale de la Tapisserie

Since 2010, Emmanuel Gérard has been the Director of the Combined Union of the International Tapestry and Woven Art Institute in Aubusson (in the 23 “département”), created by the Regional Council of Nouvelle Aquitaine, the Département Council of the Creuse, and the Agglomerated Communities of the Creuse Greater South, bringing together consular and professional stakeholders within a project highly supported by the State. The Cité of Tapestry also enjoys the support of several foundations (Fondation d’Entreprise Hermès, Fondation Bettencourt-Schueller, Fondation Pays de France – Crédit Agricole, Fondation SNCF, Fondation La Poste, Fondation Caisse d’Epargne Auvergne-Limousin, Fondation AG2R-La Mondiale pour la vitalité artistique, The Tolkien Trust, etc.). A specialist in project management in the field of cultural engineering, heritage economics and tourism development, he led the creation of a flagship project for the Nouvelle Aquitaine Region in rural areas, based on the implementation of the value of heritage, contemporary design, and training and economic development, as part of the registration of the Aubusson tapestry on the list of the intangible cultural heritage of humanity by UNESCO in 2009. The completed project was opened in 2016 by the President of the Republic. Emmanuel Gérard is since 2017 vice-president of France-PCI, an association bringing together the French elements inscribed by UNESCO in the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. He is with the Cité internationale de la tapestry, winner of the Liliane Bettencourt Prize for the intelligence of the hand (FBS – Parcours-2018). He was admitted to the first annual session of the Cycle of Higher Studies of Culture. Emmanuel Gérard is Knight of Arts and Letters.

Vincent Darré

Vincent Darré

Decorator

Like cats, Vincent Darré has had several lives, slipping from fashion to interior design, making his homes the laboratory for his extravagant creativity. Said to be fantastic and baroque, Vincent Darré is especially free and agile. Undoubtedly his James Thierré side, of whom he has the wick and the tonicity as well as a dandy look.

Amélie-Margot Chevalier

Amélie-Margot Chevalier

Director - Galerie Chevalier-Parsua

La Galerie Chevalier has just set up shop at 25, rue de Bourgogne in the 7th arrondissement, after nearly 40 years on the quai Voltaire. This gallery specializes in antique (from the 16th through the 18th centuries), modern (1920 to 1960), and contemporary tapestries (from 1970 to current day), as well as current textile arts. An essential stop for textile connoisseurs, Galerie Chevalier welcomes an international clientele made up of individuals, museum curators, and interior designers. In addition to their magnificent antique tapestries, here, you can admire the biggest names in the rebirth of tapestry arts in the 20th century (Jean Lurçat, Mathieu Matégot, Pierre Daquin, Emile Gilioli, Robert Wogensky…) as well as contemporary artists who make use of this medium in the most creative of ways for the 21st century (Jon Eric Riis, Françoise Paressant, Daniel Riberzani, Mathieu Ducournau, Aurélie Mathigot). You will also find antique Oriental or European rugs and contemporary rugs from the Parsua brand, exclusively produced by Galerie Chevalier. This gallery is an extension of a family-owned enterprise that dates back to 1917. Today, its management is handled by Céline Letessier and Amélie-Margot Chevalier, keeping up the passionate tradition of their parents Dominique Chevalier and Nicole de Pazzis Chevalier. These two sisters, who are very close, have been working together for over a decade. Amélie-Margot is in charge of the gallery’s artistic direction as well as research on pieces. She is an expert in modern tapestry and contemporary textile design (member of the Compagnie Nationale des Experts, the Syndicat National des Antiquaires, and the Comité des galeries d’art). Céline is focused on company management and the development of the contemporary rug brand Parsua. Their philosophy: “We represent the past, but have a real sense of the future” (Gio Ponti) And last, but not least, Galerie Chevalier also means expertise for individuals and professionals, an ultra high-quality cleaning and restoration service, and tapestry and rug rental service.
