How Pop Culture Inspires Contemporary Creation

Monday 8 September — 13:00 - 13:45
The Talks — Hall 6

Description

The boundary between pop culture and high creation is becoming increasingly blurred. From Walt Disney references to bold nods to streetwear and genre cinema, pop culture is becoming a rich source of inspiration for a new generation of creatives. In this talk, Thomas Jolly — iconoclastic stage director and artistic director of the Paris 2024 Olympic ceremonies — will explore how to move beyond mere references to build a coherent, meaningful visual language. A must-attend conversation for architects, designers, and creatives looking to tap into mainstream culture to reinvent everyday forms and functions.
