Jean Sébastien enjoyed a peaceful childhood in sunny Nîmes, before moving to the capital to attend the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Appliqués. He graduated four years later with the highest honors, but not without making a name for himself for his often contrarian ideas. His diploma thesis on the programmed obsolescence of objects was the starting point for the 5-5 founding project. It was on his initiative that the 5-5 designers collective was born, invited to pursue its "censored" reflections on the concept of object medicine. Always questioning his future profession as a designer, the Nîmes bull decided to pursue his studies at Arts et Métiers, where he obtained a Dîplôme d'Etudes Approfondies in the Laboratoire de Conception de Produits et Innovation. A theoretical year that gave him a taste for multi-disciplinary projects and reinforced his determination to practice design that gives priority to substance over form.
Co-founder & CEO - studio 5•5
Claire discovered design during a 3rd grade internship in the offices of CASTROL motor oils. Not a glamorous world for this Parisian born in the Yvelines, but it was decided that she would be a designer and draw everyday life. She was accepted at ENSAAMA, where she completed the entire five-year curriculum, graduating with a diploma on the influence of form on taste. She then decided to continue her studies at Arts et Métiers to discover the creative ecosystem and learn about the relationships between the different players in the design professions. While completing her Diplôme d'Etudes Approfondies in Product Design and Innovation, Claire founded Studio 5-5 with her colleagues, becoming the female member of this promising young collective. For many years, she managed ambitious projects with great dedication and success. Little by little, Claire took on more responsibilities and helped the studio grow by taking on parallel management tasks. It was a natural step for her to take over the management of Studio 5-5 in 2012. It doesn't matter whether she's a Designer-Director or a Director-Designer: she knows what she's talking about, and she takes on the role of "troupe leader" with great commitment and rigor, a role that suits her so well. In this capacity, she has been invited by the CNAP to sit on its commission for the acquisition of state works for 3 years.
