On the one hand, the duo at Normal Studio has years of work and support for brands in its portfolio, in product design, space design, and creative direction. On the other, Hall Haus, a young collective of four designers who are taking their first noteworthy steps into the world of design and are cultivating the art of communication. Here’s an encounter between these two studios that use different approaches, yet are both nourished by creativity and the exploration of new domains.

Designer & Co-Founders // HALL HAUS
HALL HAUS is a studio of four designers founded by Abdoulaye Niang, Sammy Bernoussi, Teddy Sanches and Zakari Boukhari. They advocate a creative approach coming from a development between the environment (hall) and design itself (haus). In September 2020, they won the “A l’oeuvre” residence organized by the Lafayette Anticipations foundation which gave them the opportunity to conceive the studio’s signature armchair that draws inspiration from both Marcel Breuer’s Wassily armchair and Quechua’s folding camping armchair. It was a finalist in the 2022 Design Parade at Villa Noailles. Their design approach incorporates the object, the experience and finally, its transmission.
Designer & Co-Founders - Normal Studio
Jean-François Dingjian and Eloi Chafaï form the tandem at “Normal Studio”, an industrial design agency they created in 2006. Together they reflect on exploring industrial and artisanal procedures with their many possibilities to question everyday objects and lifestyles. They produce timeless objects that go against the grain of current trends and their predilection for perfect forms has been solicited by international brands such as Hermès, Puiforcat and the Danish company Muuto. In their overall development strategy, they work with companies known for their industrial heritages such as TOLIX or SAMMODE for whom they have been creative directors since 2015.
