Well-being from A to Zen

Maison&Objet - Inside - Wellness

In September, Maison&Objet will be unveiling Wellbeing&beauty, a brand-new show sector that is set to shine a light on products designed to make us feel good. The approach could almost be deemed holistic. Holis... what? We’ve put together a little glossary to help you get to grips with what’s what.

Let’s get the ball rolling with an H for Holistic. To put it simply, the house is considered as a whole. Which is why from H for hand cream to N for Natural cleaning products to C for CBD – there’s one that needs no explaining – , the brand-new sector showcases such a varied range of products, covering everything from Wellness to Well-being. Because no, they’re not the same thing. Understanding the subtle difference between the two may not make you a Yogi Master, but what it will do is help you take one step up the ladder of wisdom. Wellness refers to anything that makes you feel good on a day-to-day basis, from good-old Dumbbells to an effectively designed Sex toy. With Wellbeing, however, we venture into a more spiritual dimension. Did someone say Meditation? You've got it! Anyone whose Chakras are sufficiently open may also be interested in having their Tarot or Oracle cards read, by conviction, for the thrill or just for fun. Let’s skim quickly over D for Detox, in which anyone can indulge simply by sipping a herbal tea, for example, with a huge variety on offer. On the other hand, we’ll linger a little longer on Lithotherapy, with its L and five syllables, because this trend that focuses on the powers of stones and crystals is currently booming. You’ll also come across numerous other types of therapy during your time at the trade fair, including Lumino, Aroma and Sono therapy, but if you only remember one, make sure Lithotherapy’s it. Semi-precious stones are clearly flavour of the month, as they also morph into massage tools on a Gua Sha, a roller that has been specially designed to deliver a relaxing facial massage. What else? It’s precisely the type of daily Ritual that can help bring some enjoyment to our lives, and may also require other accessories: Essential oils, Air purifiers, Sage, Thyme or other Herbs to burn, and, of course, Yoga mats ... with an F for Face yoga or a C for Chroma yoga, all experiences in which you can indulge during the various workshops that the trade fair’s Experience Pavilion is set to host. They have been put together by Marina Mussat, whose charming Parisian shop embraces a truly holistic approach that now holds no secrets for you. And once you’ve finished browsing the Maison&Objet aisles, we’d recommend signing up for a Restorative Nap Experience with Crystals & Multi sensorial tools for an instant feel good fix!
