What if, in a world that never stops demanding our attention, the ultimate luxury were to reclaim the time to touch, to look, to listen? For its January 2027 edition, Maison&Objet Premier explores this emerging sensibility with Sensory Shift, a theme conceived by NellyRodi as an invitation to returne our senses and reconnect with what truly matters.
There is the noise of the world. Images scrolling endlessly, messages arriving, voices overlapping, lights that never quite go out. In 2027, at the heart of a constantly shifting way of life, something remains.
A desire to slow down. A desire to rediscover the sensation of a material beneath the palm of the hand, the light moving across a wall, the sound of a gesture carried out with patience. A desire to return to things that cannot be consumed in an instant.
Perhaps this is where the Sensory Shift at Maison&Objet Premier begins.
Not by rejecting the contemporary world, but by changing its pace. A way of reclaiming ownership of our attention. Of disconnecting from the overload in order to become available once again to what surrounds us.
From this quest for meaning emerge four stylistic movements identified by trend forecasting agency NellyRodi.
Anchoring: reconnecting with the real, the tangible, the authentic. Returning to materials, craftsmanship and objects that carry a story and a sense of origin within them.
Serenity: seeking spaces of calm, forms that soothe, atmospheres that allow us to breathe.
Elevation: choosing restraint over excess, quality over accumulation, what endures over what passes.
And finally, Exaltation: rediscovering wonder. Allowing ourselves to be surprised, to experiment, to deliberately evoke emotion and awaken that part of us that still knows how to be amazed.
Four movements, four ways of reconnecting with ourselves through our surroundings. A theme brought to life through a series of new interpretations, to be discovered from 14 to 18 January.
