The mission of Ateliers d’Art de France is to develop awareness of the role and place of fine crafts in society today. It provides a place where fine craft professionals can exchange with professionals from cultural institutions, the public authorities and the general public. The federation brings together more than 6,000 professionals in France. Not only does it represent and defend the interests of fine craft professionals, it contributes to the sector’s economic development both in France and abroad
To this end, the Ateliers d’Art de France:
- Works to further the implementation of a professional organisation of the fine craft sector. Ateliers d’Art de France defends the interests of the sector to public authorities and acts as an ambassador for the creation of a professional fine craft branch.
- Promotes fine craft professionals and their creations by organising trade fairs and international events (such as MAISON&OBJET*, Révélations and the International Cultural Heritage Fair) and operates a network of 6 stores in Paris and around France, including the Talents boutique, Galerie Collection and the EMPREINTES concept store in Paris, as well as La Nef and the Maison des Métiers d’Art de Pézenas, which are located in the area around Montpellier.
- Endeavours to help develop the cultural impact of fine crafts, in particular thanks to its publishing activity (Éditions Ateliers d’Art de France) and the International Film Festival for Fine Crafts.
- Rewards the know-how and creativity of crafts workers by orchestrating various prizes and competitions (such as the Young Creative Craftsworker’s Award, the Ateliers d’Art de France Competition or the Ateliers d’Art de France Awards).
