LA RE-PRISE DE LA BASTILLE

Marais / Bastille / République

In partnership with Festival du Monde and Refashion, Claire & Jean-Seb present a monumental installation around the Bastille, echoing the history of this iconic square, a symbol of freedom and revolution. 196 flags — representing the 195 United Nations member and observer states, along with one white flag — transform the site into a space for coexistence and peace. Each unique flag is crafted from second-hand garments collected through Refashion’s partner organisations; brought together, these fragments of fabric tell stories of cultures, memories and histories. “La Re-prise de la Bastille” also champions sustainable fashion and raises awareness of the importance of sorting and recycling: clothes should never be thrown away, and discarded materials can be transformed into works of art. Each flag will be auctioned on Drouot.com from September 9 to 20. See more
