A design collaboration between Eastern philosophy and French affirmation. “Wéi”- a phonetic carrier of a group of Chinese characters with multiple meanings, and an Eastern echo of the French “Oui" links the multi-dimensional narrative of design innovation with a single character. Wei- a verb's vigor and a preposition's humility, carries the Chinese design philosophy of action from “investigating things to extend knowledge” to “creating objects to accomplish tasks" over a thousand years. The intonation of “Wéi” is like a dialogue between the Seine and the Yangtze River - the open posture of the French “Oui" meets the proactive philosophy of the Chinese character “wei, reshaping the civilizational grammar of design in the dialectic of negation and affirmation, inheritance and subversion.
