THE GEOGRAPHY OF DIALOGUE SALVAING X IMBERT X RUPTURE On Thomas Erber’s invitation, Matthieu Salvaing is taking over Rupture House and for the first time presenting more personal work that he began two years ago now, based on African vernacular architecture, an inexhaustible source of art and history, beautifully enhancing the material and the craftsman’s ancestral technique. For an exhibition designed like a dialogue, it was only natural for Matthieu to invite the young designer Frédéric Imbert to allow his latest pieces to resonate with photographs from Ghana and Ethiopia. Two worlds and two visions of the world that come together to share the same desire to put people at the heart of design, far from the smooth and standardised aesthetics of our contemporary societies, giving free rein to emotion. This exhibition invites the viewer to take part in this conversation between two continents, past and present, art and ancestral know-how. A real ode to colour and materials, all the sensuality of the gesture or the natural curve of the elements is also highlighted in this artistic dialogue. See more
