MAISON&OBJET: Karl Lagerfeld
Karl Lagerfeld: MAISON&OBJET 2009 designer
MAISON&OBJET is honored to celebrate
the exceptional creativity of Karl Lagerfeld.
Stylist, perfumer, photographer, designer, editor… The vibrant, eclectic curiosity of this uncommon
creator leads him to experiment and leave his mark on all the fields of creation. His is a unique artistic
approach that privileges a search for elegance, a demand for excellence, a respect for the know-how of
the art trades and the values of French-style luxury.
MAISON&OBJET, the international trade show for home-fashion, is paying homage to the masterful
freedom of thought and creation of a universal spirit that perfectly embodies the vivid strength of an
innovative mind, decompartmentalizing creative worlds in Paris, Capitale de la Création.
MEUBLE PARIS: François Azambourg
François Azambourg: MEUBLE PARIS 2009 designer
Since 1999, François Azambourg
has participated in many trade
shows and exhibitions, which have
garnered acknowledgement for his
work as a designer and allowed him
to create projects with editors such
as Cappellini, Hermès, Kréo,
Poltrona Frau and Roset. Right from
the start, revealed by the VIA, his
work was devoted to combining
techniques and art proper with the
applied arts. He is completely geared
toward simplicity and lightness, as
well as a revising objects’ materiality
as it relates to their function. Winner
of the 2003 “Villa Médicis Hors les
Murs” prize, he has been awarded
many prizes, such as the Paris
Grand Prize for Design in 2004 and
prizes from the Fondation de la
Vocation in 1993 and the Fondation
de France in 1988.
scènes d'intérieur: Vincent Van Duysen
Vincent Van Duysen : scènes d'intérieur 2009 designer
Vincent Van Duysen graduated in architecture at the Higher
Institute of Architecture Saint-Lucas, Ghent. After working
in Italy for Aldo Cibic in 1986-87, he set up his own practice
in Antwerp in 1990. In his architectural projects,
the emphasis is placed on space, light, fluidity and texture.
His furniture designs can be considered as a scaled down
version of this architecture. Pared down and timeless,
elegant yet robust, he maintains the balance between the
essence of a shape and its contemporary expression. All his
designs combine a great sense of tactile and visual
pleasure, while functionality and comfort are of paramount
importance. As well as having collections with several
major furniture manufacturers, the practice has firmly
established itself abroad and is currently involved in several
large scale projects in the Middle East.
now! design à vivre: Jean-Marie Massaud
Jean-Marie Massaud: now! design à vivre 2009 designer
A graduate of the ENSCI in 1990, Jean-Marie Massaud has,
from his first intuitions, always been on a quest for
synthesis, simplification and lightness. He approaches the
different aspects of design: from furniture to industrial
products and equipment. In 2000, he created the Studio
Massaud and extended his activity to architecture and
development strategy. He works with references as varied
as B&B Italia, Axor Hansgrohe, Lancôme and Renault.
Placing humans and their natural environment at the heart
of his creations, this limitless inventor has adopted a
committed, political approach and tries to make each
project a life experience and an economic scenario which
conciliates desire and responsibility.
