Fall-winter 2009

ReGeneration ReGeneration, like so many mutations in a domestic world in perpetual motion, a changing reflection of social, aesthetic and technical advancements. A “hearth and home,” the melting pot of our individual and collective aspirations, to which each of us brings an infinite range of cultural and decorative choices in order to create a singular world.
ReGeneration, like a vital need to breathe in a house that is both a “de-pressurizing” bubble of oxygen and an increasingly open living organism, a reflection of the outdoor phenomenon that is breaking like a tidal wave over our interiors.

Wishing you all a wonderful read,

Étienne Cochet, Managing Director SAFI

Spring-summer 2009

Surprise(s) ! If you hear the words “know-how,” “influences,” “seduction,” “pleasure”… do you think of Fashion? Decoration? Cooking? or more broadly, the Art of living? Just like our homes, living organisms that are increasingly open both to the inside and the outdoors, the walls of creation are falling, and locks are popping open. The community of creators, for our greater joy, is abandoning any remaining hang-ups about feeding on each other’s work and is endlessly inventing new combinations: “olfactory design,” “cosmeto-food” or, too, “home-fashion.” These hybrid energies and collective passions truly reveal a composite society, of which Maison&Objet hopes to be the committed and festive embodiment for 5 days of celebration in Paris, Capitale de la Création. In these times of economic uncertainty, that is a great recipe against the current gloom for all connoisseurs of the art of living. So on today’s menu, we have “Gourmet Delights.” A precious molecule of today’s atmosphere, a joyous concentrate of our relationship to the world. Wishing you all a wonderful read,

Étienne Cochet, Managing Director SAFI

fall-winter 2008-2009

Surprise(s) ! A new title, a new layout, new sections... for its 15th issue, your mag is just like the show: surprising! Because we know that the soul of decoration and its future depend on an ability for constant renewal, creating new languages and new interactions, we have decided to let the unexpected be the main theme for this edition.
Marrying raw materials with the ultra-sophistication of gourmandise, photographing the most beautiful Outdoor decoration pieces amid incredible palatial ruins, understanding the foundations of our desire for rarity, putting the spotlight on new Indian design, pinpointing the world’s most wonderful spas, celebrating 20 years of scènes d’intérieur with the theme “extravagance”… now more than ever, faced with the standardization of lifestyles, the major players in home-fashion, like new conquistadors of creation, are inviting us to make new discoveries...
And it is clearly because Paris, Capitale de la Création, has always been a player – as well as living material for all kinds of change – that we absolutely must draw inspiration from these new energies to invent the markets of the future together.

Étienne Cochet, Managing Director SAFI

Mondes interieurs Decoration’s new motto: “Tell me what your interior is like, and I will tell you who you are.” For this time, we have realized that the home is more and more a part of our life. It reflects an inner world, expressing the personality of its inhabitants. So, in this issue, you will discover free spirits, designers, manufacturers, artisans and young talents, and communicators, who know that consumers from all over the world are on an eternal quest for new lives for their interiors or exteriors: ultra-luxury, contemporary, sober, solid gold, baroque. Those lives are in their image. Lives are growing longer, more intense, more open, in perpetual transformation. Because our decors change our lives, they should also change their own lives. Being cosmopolitan, open to the city, to the world, change, the unexpected, for new lives, lives full of lives.

summer-spring 2007

Let’s celebrate ! Whether we get together for an hour, a lifetime, or two and a half days – the average length of visits to our shows – nowadays, people are looking for moments of true sharing and re-enchantment. In resonance with the current atmosphere, the new household collections – exclusively unveiled for you, professionals of the art of living – will arouse your wonder, surprise, desire, smiles, or scowls ... but will definitely not leave you indifferent. It is this passion for beauty and utility that we want to share with you.

Our magazine is here to bring you further and for a lengthier stay (thanks to those of you – and there are many – who keep it, in their hear ts ... and on their coffee tables, well after the shows have ended). Has the Sandman come to carr y you off? The section on the bed in all its forms will not leave you dozing.
Curious about the jet set? The “A Tangled Web” scenario was written for you. Enter the world of creators for the year 2007 ... they’re all fired up and will get you started! You’ll also discover, in the Bright Hopes category of our Festival, the young Talents à la Carte at scènes d’intérieur. Purposeful household shopping that ends up in the shower; it’s décor for your home, because we like real life and real people. We've even thought to revamp the traditional “spring cleaning,” or how to stay chic and funny at all times. Smile ... and enjoy the creative energy.

RED CARPET >… If the Mag were a flying carpet … it would carry us off into the wondrous world of children, send us soaring over the colorful, poetic world of Jean-Charles de Castelbajac. A little swoop and we'd touch down in Thailand … with the new “talents à la carte”. And above all, we'd love exploring spots that are exciting, chic, and so “exotic”. Especially, we'd keep our eyes open during the nighttime journey … so we might be lucky enough to encounter a luminous beauty … After all, there's no age limit to believing tales of flying carpets, and no border to the end of our dreams! But enough talk … it's time for takeoff! May the wind blow you away! Véronique Thouvenin, communication Director SAFI
