ARCHPOLE

A laboratory for architecture, design and production—but also a showroom, a workshop and a space dedicated to art—Archpole has many feathers in its cap! Made up of four members, the collective is a hotbed of ideas, with a particular interest in everyday life, the beauty of its rituals, as well as urban development. Every day, the designers affirm, through their flights of fancy, something new emerges from their studio!

DIMA LOGINOFF

Dima Loginoff graduated from the International Design School in Moscow, then RHODEC in London, studying interior design. A master of curly locks before taking on other forms, the designer, a former hairdresser, has garnered many awards and accolades for his work. From the Dounyasha chair, with its enveloping forms, to an interior bedecked with a pastel Harlequin pattern, by way of a wooden rocking chair with spidery lace decoration or a Fedora lamp shaped like a glass matryoshka doll, his creations have taken the path of a Slavic-toned Jaime Hayon, both playful and inventive, and sometimes provocative. He would certainly appear to be one of the rising stars in Russian design.

EVGENIA MIRO

Her favorite themes involve symbols and other ornamentation. Born in Ukraine, she has retained of her native land a taste for colors and rhythms. After studying at the School of Plastic Art in Kharkov, she finished her education in St. Petersburg. Passionate about theater and music, she has collaborated with many troupes, including the Kirov theater. Her encounter with the house of Hermès in 2004 led to the creation of scarves, enameled bracelets and porcelain dishware, a fantastic challenge for the young designer, and a major “in”. She is also the one behind pieces for Pierre Frey, Longwy enamels and Wedgwood.

MATEO

Created in 2007, this newfound crystal works offers designs that are both classic and modern, with a touch of typically Russian spirit. Collections of crystal glasses, decanters and champagne flutes in the purest tradition of the great houses are on hand, as is a line of limited-edition porcelain dishes, called Varvara, designed in a neoclassical spirit that wouldn’t deny a touch of Viollet-le-Duc, aimed chiefly at restaurateurs and hotels. A case of traditional craftsmanship brought to spectacular heights by contemporary designers!

MILLA REZANOVA

Before founding a design studio in 2005, Milla Rezanova graduated from RHODEC (a London architectural schoool) and the Architectural School of Design in Moscow. She works in the field of architecture as well as interior architecture and design. Her 2008 project for a hotel as a sphere stuck like a barnacle to a cliff (an artificial one) and accessible only by helicopter was the object of widespread astonishment. Her series of Dondolo chairs, with their different possible finishes, has also caught the attention of many design aficionados. In 2009, she presented the Bjork chair, which was nominated for a Design and Design International Award.
ORGANICA

Their source of inspiration: the Earth’s diversity of organic forms, structures and textures, the fruit of innumerable physical, chemical and biological processes. Anna Bokova, who studied at the Harvard University Graduate School of Design, and her partner in crime Daria Kovaleva, a graduate of the Moscow Architectural Institute, presented the Biocast project in 2009. Described as the synthesis of physical processes such as gravity, tension and fluidity, the exploration led to a series of biomorphic spatial molds. Wax, rubber, clay, bronze, and of course plaster have been drawn on in developing the pieces, as have—more unusually—chocolate, meringue and jelly. A duo making striking creations.
